Sam Houghteling
Fields of Study: American Politics; Public Administration and Public Policy
About: Sam Houghteling is a creative and enterprising leader who is passionate about collaborative problem solving, and is leading the development of the Straayer Center for Public Service Leadership at Colorado State University. From 2013-2017, Sam worked with the City of Fort Collins, and was on the leadership teams of Fort Collins Startup Week, the Northern Colorado Food Cluster, and the Downtown Fort Collins Creative District. Sam currently serves on the City of Fort Collins Parks and Rec Advisory Board, and on the leadership teams for Represent US - Fort Collins, and the Colorado Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration. Prior to moving west, Sam served as a Director at a Massachusetts based non-profit, and received his MPA from the University of Kansas. Sam is interested in how community networks influence institutional decision making, and is pursuing a Ph.D at CSU in Public Administration and Environmental Policy. In his free time, Sam enjoys playing baseball, cooking, live music, and spending time in the mountains.
