John Parks
Fields of Study: Environmental Politics and Policy, Public Administration and Public Policy
About: John’s first degree was in Environmental Studies from CU Boulder in 2000. After that, he traveled and lived around the world for five years before enrolling at CSU to attain a B.A. in Spanish Language, Literature and Cultures (2005) and an M.Ed. (2006), while racing with the Rams Cycling team (his signature is on the 2004 jersey in the CSU library). After that, he taught English in Puebla, Mexico with his future wife, Colleen, before returning to Fort Collins. Since then, he has taught Spanish and French at Loveland High School (CO), and coordinated the IB programme there for the last six years. 2019 was a watershed year for renewable energy and climate policy, so he resigned from a great job to join the POLS department to get the skills to launch into a career in environmental policy. He is on the Fort Collins Economic Advisory Commission and the Our Climate Future Ambassadors program. He loves riding bikes and xc skiing with his kids. He also sells solar systems with Blue Raven Solar, so let him know if you’re thinking of solar for your home!
