Requirements for the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science include a minimum thirty-six credits of political science courses distributed across the areas of American politics, political theory, comparative politics, international relations and public administration and policy plus twelve to twenty-one credits in one of several support options outside of political science. A capstone seminar is included within the thirty-six credits required in political science courses. Fifty-two to fifty-four additional credits are required to meet college-wide and university-wide distribution requirements. Many of the department, college and university requirements can be met in a number of ways, thereby affording students the opportunity to shape their own programs of study. Further unrestricted choice of courses is provided in the free electives that students take in meeting the minimum total of 120 credits required for the B.A. degree. (For a detailed description of university, college and departmental requirements, please consult the current Colorado State University Catalog.)
Students majoring in another field of study may graduate with a minor in political science by earning a minimum of 21 credits in political science courses, including at least 3 credits in political theory and a total of 12 credits in advanced undergraduate course.
